We use “at” because a meeting is treated like an event or activity — not a physical place.

AT = events / activities / specific points in time

This is actually sometimes used, but it means you are currently participating in the meeting (more emphasis on being inside the activity)

Example: “I can’t talk, I’m in a meeting.”

at a meeting → general location / attending

in a meeting → actively involved right now
